Request for info about RAV , thanks

The new Swiss Forum looks very nice!

I lost my job and basically would like some info about the RAV, and how I can use it. Of course I’ll read the info myself but I thought I’d ask here too, to get the ball rolling. Any stories, experiences, points about things to consider, would be grateful, as would info on how much one can get and for how long.

Thanks!

Maybe the best way of going about it is to read the info you’ve found then come back with specific questions? It’s a bit of a broad topic.

As I cannot groan or refer you to the search, you may want to start here:

https://www.arbeit.swiss/secoalv/en/home/menue/stellensuchende/arbeitslos-was-tun-/faq_arbeitslosenentschaedigung.html#:~:text=Your%20RAV%20personnel%20consultant%20will,insufficient%20efforts%20to%20find%20work

I’m searching there already of course, thanks for the link anyway👍

If you thought your previous boss was a jerk, wait until you meet your RAV counsellor.

For me in canton Schwyz it was ok experience, my counselor was quite nice, I had to request employers from previous 2 years to fill in papers, then i remember had to pass online training “what is rav and how it works”, also demonstrate my efforts in searching for a job during notice period, then every month submit a paper where I list my 10-12 applications. I was unemployed two months, and counselor i think called twice to ask if there is interview success somewhere. The insurance ALV that pays money is separate from RAV (and they make sure you understand it :DD), there is straftage (up to 90), waiting tage (depends on old salary), in the end i got almost nothing and not to be on the streets managed to find a job after 2 months being registered, don’t know if counselors would get more aggressive if you manage to be on RAV for long time

Great prep info that , thanks.

What am I entitled to I wonder? I’ve worked straight for ten years at increasing salaries and will absolutely job hunt like the proverbial mf.

As mentioned earlier:

Have you got kids? With kids it’s 80% of your previous salary, no kids and it’s 70% but up to an upper capped amount (but you’ll have to read the links given to you to find it out because it might have changed in the meantime).

Read the effing FAQ I linked. 70% or 80% whereas the 100% baseline is capped at 12350 or so. It is like a salary, you will have to pay tax and social security from this. Waiting days should normally be only 5 days unless you were stupid enough to quit. Then it is normally 3 months without support.

Waiting days depend on your salary, if you were stupid enough to earn that little then it is 5 days, for the rest it will be 15-20 working days. And people are not stupid for quitting if the place is full of toxic obnoxious people and own well being is the priority.

I believe the baseline is capped at around 146000 these days. The EF poverty line of 120k has been increased.
That’s the annual amount, I guess you were quoting monthly salaries.

Yes, I had in mind 148k annually which is 12300 monthly. As for waiting days, indeed I had in mind a situation with dependent children in which case the max waiting time is 5 days. It can be up to 20 without children.
