Reseller Web Hosting in Switzerland?

Can anyone recommend one or more reliable service providers for reseller web hosting based in Switzerland? I'm particularly interested in SPs with Windows servers that handle both classic ASP and PHP.

I am not aware of the Swiss service provider, but if you do not mind other country's service, you can try SOftLayer... their service is good, as far as I know..

ps: I am not affiliated with Softlayer but just thought of sharing experience.

If you went that route, I'd second Softlayer but I'd give a no-no to Jodohost.

Turns out SoftLayer's reseller requirements are too stiff for me (you have to occupy a minimum of 5 servers to qualify ). I have just a handful of loyal clients, and I'm just looking for an economical place to host them, preferably in Europe or (even better) Switzerland.

in that case, you might wanna check out hoststar.ch or simplehost.ch

does it have to be swiss? you'd have more choice in germany or the UK...

No, it doesn't absolutely have to be Swiss. Anything on the same side of the Atlantic would probably do, actually.

Not sure if they meet your requirements, but switch has started to offer webhosting, although in German.

I second hoststar.ch. MySQL and Php though. Even the basic subscription gets you access to their software center. I wish it had ASP and SQL, but for only CHF 160 a year including paying for the domain (I don't want to be responsible for that separately) it is the easiest choice.

Thanks, I'll check them out. Language isn't actually as big of a deal as having the right technology (both PHP and ASP).

Hoststar looks great, but unfortunately a couple of my client sites are built with ASP, which really limits me. (I'd convert them to PHP, if it weren't such a big undertaking...)

i'm pretty sure hoststar does offer ASP - do get in touch with them...

another option to reselling might be running a VPS, there's a few providers that do offer windows servers

not sure how much they charge, but for a comparison, i built my own 1U server and have it hosted in the UK for £40 a month. you can host a shed load of customers on a single server.

actually you only need one dedicate server to host many sites.

Personally, I find hostgator's price expensive and the service is not as great as those of SoftLayer.

good luck

Everyone I know uses VTSpace - he resells server capacity based in Germany. 59chf per year for 5gb space - unlimited traffic!

Swiss companies like Genotec, Netrics and Green are good. Serious players in the field of Hosting. They have invested real money in real infrastructure.

fwiw, the ones i know of but have never used are: 1&1 in Germany and Bytemark in the UK (I hear good things about Bytemark).

i'm hosted with rapidswitch but not entirely happy with their service but just good enough that i can't be arsed to switch.

Based on my firsthand experience, I suggest avoiding Genotec. Their response time to both sales and support inquiries is typically 24 to 48 hours — when they respond at all. "Real infrastructure" is of little use when buried behind bureaucratic silence. When I got an initial bill, the "service" was alleged to have begun over a week previously, even though I had yet to gain any service (e.g., account info that would allow me to actually access and use some server space).

Hostpoint offer reseller accounts.

Alternatively the best hosting company in the world is in the UK: http://www.clook.co.uk . Who naturally have reseller accounts...

Texaner - who did you end up going with?

I am looking for hosting with an MSSQL DB for a new project.

I came across https://www.simplehosting.ch/de/host...ndows-hosting/ - can anyone recommend them?

I hope its not too late to reply. I would recommend buying a VPS or a baremetal machine, many German companies offer low price VPS (managed or un-managed). Hosting PHP or ASP on a shared hosting is not a good idea especially if you have heavy scripts involved.

I used to have shared hosting and my client's websites always performed low in speed & loading times. Then, someone suggested to buy a VPS. I feel much relaxed having all resources in hand. VPS is the ultimate solution.
