Hello, I searched for this and couldn't find anything, which I find hard to believe. Still, I thought I'd ask and apologies if my search parameters didn't turn up the right threads.
Our son was born in December in a Stadt Zurich hospital. I'm non-EU with an EU husband, both on B permits. I know his birth certificate will arrive next week in the mail, and all the hoops we need to jump through to get his various passports.
However, my question is, what does he get in terms of a residency permit? That is, does he go on my (and my husband's) residency permit, or does he get his own? Do I need to go to the Migrationsamt (migration office) or the Kreisburo (district office) to get him his own permit? I know that the migration office deals mostly in visas and we went to the district office to get our residency permits. Or, and here's hoping, he gets his residency permit automatically?
For non-EU's the steps are - Go through the beauracratic process of legalizing your document and an agonizing wait before the BC is received. Then take the BC to the Kreisburo, to register and pay the fee, and after a certain period of time the Permit card arrives. Not sure how it work in your case. My assumption is you will have to take the same steps, as the Kreisburo is not made of the aware of the birth. For us it took about 6 months to get the BC, but then getting the permit was easy..
And yes children receive their separate Permit Cards.
Well Go through the beauracratic process of legalizing your document depend, if you are married here or in other country.
if you was married here, the hospital send the birth certificate to the gemeinde and then you will have a letter for pick up the permit from your child, for us take like 2 weeks.
In my Gemeinde (Thalwil), I dilligently turned up with the birth certificate a few days after the birth, to apply for the permit and I was told to go away!
Apparently I should have waited for them to send me a letter, asking me to turn up.
The letter turned up a couple of weeks later, I filled in the form and went back to the Gemeinde, paid my money and left with the Permit (B, the same as me)
