The old girl finally gave up the ghost (an inherited Miele tumble dryer that must be at least 30 years old). So I’m shopping around for a new one. I see that Fust has a delivery and ‘set up’ option but it doesn’t mention taking the old one away. Anyone recommend anyone who sells, installs and takes away the old machine ?
Ask them. They are legally bound to take the old one, but may charge you extra if they collect it. That will be the same for all the companies, it is a matter of negotiation.
It’s free (if they do the delivery to the apartment and assembly).
See bottom line.

We had to exchange washing machine and dryer last year. Went for MediaMarkt that was far cheaper than Fust. We paid 300 for delivery, installation and disposal.
Maybe V-Zug does it even for free ![]()
We just bought a refrigerator from Fust. For a price, they took the old one away. Maybe ask whoever you are buying it from.
I think all those who sell appliances have a service to take away the old one.
I changed machines around covid time and it all went a bit wrong so I actually took it away myself, but because of the size, I had to first dis-mantle the whole thing, but when taken apart, it was quite easy to remove as all the panels were flat sheet metal. The drum was the only bulky thing. Everything fit into a small car.
I copied my image from the Fust Website. I didn’t make that clear.
Here is the more of the page:
As for Fust. They sometimes appear cheaper because they sell old stuff from a few years back.
I’m surprised they still exist.
They may be propped up by their parent company, CO-OP.
Those sort of places disappeared in the UK years ago, or went solely online.
We got ours from MediaMarkt and they installed it and took the old one away for free.
They were fantastic both times we’ve used them as it’s not easy getting stuff down into our laundry room in the basement, once for the washing machine and once for the tumble dryer. They couldn’t have been more helpful, different crew each time.
Brilliant thanks for all the help. Next time I’ll spend more time reading the offers !
We wanted a specific item, and Fust had what we needed at a reasonable price🤷🏻♀️
We ordered our fridge from Galaxus and they had an option of delivery and fitting with pickup of the old fridge (was done by a 3rd party who took delivery of the new fridge and then came to install, but all went smoothly). Was the cheapest option and only Galaxus had stock without a 3 months wait…
Any retailer has to take back the old unit free of charge, that is what the TAR (taxe anticipée recyclage) is all about. But nobody is required to pick it up from your house. So if you can get it to Fust on your own you can avoid their fee. I believe 99.999876% of consumers are happy to pay the fee to get rid of it. Approximately that is.
As I mentioned before, if you buy from Fust and include delivery to place of use and assembly, then removal and disposal of the old unit is free.
“Assembly is a loose term”. I had a washer and drier installed as part of a new flat (I wasn’t allowed to do it myself) and the doors were right-opening which means they couldn’t be opened fully as supplied.
Luckily I had the right Torx screwdrivers to change the doors from right-hinged to left hinged opening.
Still annoying as we had paid someone to fit them.
We got a new dishwasher from Galaxus and used one of their third party services for delivery and fitting and it was overall a terrible experience.
They put off the delivery date multiple times and when they came to fir it they said it wouldn’t fit with the cabinet door we had and wanted to cut 6cm off the bottom of it. I refused to let them do that so they left it installed but without the door front on.
Hubby and son fitted the door later without issue.
The company was initially denying any issues but eventually admitted to being in the wrong and gave us 50chf back which was a bit pathetic but better than nothing.
Yes, with Galaxus/Digitec, they rely on a kind of 3rd party marketplace for installers and it is very hit or miss. It tends to be a race to the bottom and reminiscent of airlines: try to snare you with a low headline cost and make up for it with hidden extras (surcharge for going up stairs, adapters, materials, etc.)
Yes, I can’t say their installation service was fantastic, had to call them several times to make sure the built-in fridge was suitable for our cabinet, nothing was clear and I took some risk ordering based mostly on my measurements. But in the end they did install the fridge properly.
I think it may be possible to order with pick up of old item only and have the installation performed by someone else (if you can find anyone - most business around us were fitting items they provided with huge mark-ups and long waiting times…)
