Just filling in my 2019 Tax Declaration here in Geneva and I cannot find a statement of assets in the app at Dec 2019. I can find a statement for each currency account I opened but it does not include any of the savings pots I created within the app which hold quite a lot of money.
I have declared the full amount but not sure if that is enough if they ask.
Has anyone else faced this problem and have a solution?
OK thanks. No the December statements do not include the Pots. I will include the pot amounts in the balance of the relevant Revolut currency accounts. That means the balance on the Statements will not match what I declared. So the nearest solution I can find is to include a screenshot of the Pot transactions list either side of 31 Dec 2019. Strangely for a Bank app it does let you take screenhsots of this list. But for sure I am moving my pots to Zak which I hope, as a Swiss Bank account, will make Tax reporting easier for 2020. That said Revolut has saved me hundreds on forex since I started using it a year ago so I will keep it until the Swiss Banking market gets its act together with more cheap and free banks.
Hmmm... I think you’ll discover that the Swiss banks have got their act together, to some extent - they know you don’t make money by giving your stuff away for free. Last time out Revolut tripled its losses!
All around Europe fees and charges are being reintroduced as financial institutions of one type or another struggle to be come profitable again. It does matter if it’s bricks and mortar or digital there are very few possibilities to make profit without fees. We’re going to see a lot of consolidation in the sector in the coming few years and ultimately we’ll be paying more for financial services in the future.
