How can you drive in this country without knowing the rules? All these foreigners coming over here complaining about Swiss being bad drivers when they can't understand simple junctions.
You should hand in your licence.
Once you do you can let me know where, because I have no idea about that junction either.
I think it's just a big speedbump to remind you not to be an idiot in a 30 zone.
You're supposed to stop for any pedestrians crossing then rev your engine like mad before accelerating across the junction, narrowly missing them as they run for safety.
The signpost ahead just says “speed limit 30km/h ends here, back to the default” so it’s again a normal 50km/h road. Note the circular signs. The sub-50 speed limit would end anyway at the next intersection or crossing, if the 30km/h limit were to apply beyond that it would need to be signposted again.
Not so with a zone, its rules and limits apply until you encounter the “zone ends here” sign. A zone’s start and end is shown with rectangular signs.
This is the beginning of a zone (it ends in the opposite direction) hence the rectangular signs. It’s a Begegnungszone (note the blue background on the start sign), which comes with 20km/h speed limit and everybody’s right to use the road. Pedestrians have right of way but they must not hinder cars more than necessary/unduly, parking is forbidden unless it’s explicitly allowed.
@aSITUS: the microphone can be replaced by loud firework (crackers?) from July 29 until August 2.
