Sadly he won’t be ‘Driving home for Christmas’ any more.
sad news, RIP.
Way back in 2003 I did a Christmas retail job in Marks and Spencer, I’d moved back to Scotland the year before to look after my dad and he’d just gone into care 2 months before with vascular dementia. My OH was still working down in London and trying to sell our house so I felt quite lonely. The store had the same Christmas CD playing on a loop every day, when Driving Home for Christmas used to come on I’d feel like bursting into tears as I was thinking about my dad and missing my OH. Even now I get a lump in my throat when I hear it.
My favourites are On The Beach and Fool If You Think It’s Over.
