Maru, the cat from Japan who was once said to be the most viewed animal on the internet, is sadly no more. He apparently died in early September at the age of 18.
I enjoyed seeing him bouncing in and out of big boxes when he was younger, squeezing into beer boxes, taking part in the activities laid on by his owner, like sledging, swinging on a swing, playing with toys, relaxing on his back on the sofa, purring like an engine while being brushed. A life well lived! His owner, whom you never see in the videos other than sometimes her hands, was clearly devoted to him and his feline friends Hana and Miri. His loss will be very difficult for her.
