Thanks for your response
I am planning to drive to Davos. I am little less experienced in driving a car. Been to Arosa recently and didn't enjoy the drive too much (the road has too many curves). Does anyone know if the road to Davos is also winding like the one to Arosa?
I worked in Davos last year so I did the trip back to Frauenfeld a few times. You are in Zurich so wont be so far. I am awful with the whole windy corner thing but it really isnt that bad. The worst part is from Davos past Klosters which really isnt that far, so I wouldnt worry about it too much, just take your time and let the locals fly past at ridiculous speeds..
I have been on the Postbus from Chur to Davos and Davos to Zernez via the Flüela Pass. There are some bends but no problem for a large bus, so should be easy for a car, assuming not shut for snow.
Well, from Zurich down to Landquart is autobahn (motorway, highway) - after that you are on a smaller road, but it's ok - i have a bad fear of heights and am not keen on winding mountain roads (especially those 'spectacular' ones with a 'view' !) - i have driven to Davos a few times, and whilst not my favourite destination with a car, i had no real problems. Check out http://map.search.ch and follow the route from Landquart, and see for yourself.
Just a hint from Top Gear:
I have also been on the postbus up some old cobbled mountain pass roads - places where I would never go voluntarily with a car, but some people would love it....
Landquart to Davos - not as bad as Chur to Arosa - by a long shot. The worst section is before the bridge and tunnel that now bypasses Klosters - although this will be bypassed in the next couple of years.
Take the train?
I drive to Klosters on a regular basis and don't personally find any problems with the drive. Its certainly not comparable with the drive to Arosa.
When I came back to Zürich last weekend there were a few road works along the valley (between Landquart and the Klosters bypass) which slows things down a bit. I'm sure you've thought of it, but as over a foot of snow fell last weekend do make sure that you've got your winter tyres on.
I often do the trip from Zürich to Davos and it is really nothing to worry about at all. Obviously you need winter tyres at this time of year, but after going to Arosa (I hate that route) you will find the trip to Davos easy.
This is something I want to do - may be Summer 2011
Thank You for very useful information. I shall check the snow conditions before I start from Zurich.
I bought that same orange Lambo from the factory
