Roasted coffee beans in Zurich- where to buy

Hello everyone

I just arrived in Switzerland for 2 weeks and this is my first post here. Thanks for accepting me into this expat group. Really got some useful information when I prepared for the relocation. Many thanks to all the contributors!

The main purpose of this post is to find out where I can buy some nice roasted coffee beans in Zurich.

I enjoy a hand-drip coffee everyday in the morning and the beans I brought here are almost finished. Is there a coffee shop in Zurich I can get some high quality light-roasted coffee beans?

I'm really not into the Nespresso machine coffee :P

I usually buy it there:

But I don't drink coffee myself, I just bring it as a gift to my parents when I visit them...

Schwarzenbach Kolonialwaren, Münstergasse 19

Roasting on premise since 1928.

Also stores like Globsus have some nice coffee on offer. Personally one of my favourites is actually easily available in Coop:

This one is actually not over-roasted but I do not prefer too much roasted coffee anyways.

I've tried out several options myself and here is my personal ranked list:

Just Coffee~Café Noir>ViCafe>Schwarzenbach

The taste profile of their espresso beans differs slightly, although all of them are pretty good and fresh in my opinion.

Try Kaffeepur in Wiedikon, Kreis 3. They have approx 30 varieties so something for every taste.

Our Coop in Schwyz has a huge and gorgeous roasting machine, and their variety of "own brand" beans is good - my coffee drinking friends assure me the quality is excellent.

If you have one of the larger Coop supermarkets near where you live, it could be worth checking out?

I'd highly recommend Miro Coffee - they roast a delicious range of specialty coffee beans in Zurich. I think you can also order them online: https://www.mirocoffee.co/

They have free shipping from 50 CHF and have a huge range of Swiss roasted beans.

This is our current go to place. Friendly service and a wide selection of beans we are working our way through. We were there today, in fact.

Just happened to see this place and went in for a coffee. Customers were coming in and out and the coffee to go was excellent. Got a real Soho, New York vibe while I was there. It’s nice to see these small places be successful.

I really like viCafe - there are several around town. I use their housebound for my espresso every morning. but they they have some other great roasts as well.

I went there once, the coffee I tasted was OK, nothing spectacular. I bought some beans for home, also not impressive.

I prefer others: Mame, Vicafe, Miro, About Coffee, Omnia Coffee.

Why don't you roast yourself?

A hot air popcorn roaster will set you back ~150chf, and then you can roast to your specifications.
