Roger Federer Honor Plate

Hi everyone:

I'm Hany. I'm from Egypt. I am now in Germany and I'm a big fan of your great champion Roger Federer so I decided to visit his home town Basel.

I know that he was honoured in Basel two weeks ago and I would really be very happy if I have the chance to see that honour plate.

So I was wondering if someone could help me find that place??

(I'm sorry if that's the wrong place to post my question but I'm new here )

Hany.

He is pointing to the plate with his right hand.

I don't know about Basel but if you are in Zurich then you can go to Jelmoli/Nike part and worship his foot impression

It is apparently in the historic city centre. Surely the Basel tourist office will be able to point you to the exact location.

If you look at the videos here , you will see "Sprecher Blumen" and "Gilgen" in the background.

The plaque, therefore, is likely to be on Spalenberg .

I've only guessed at that, though, so I could be wrong...

Reading the original post I thought that my good friend would lead me to an address, that Google Maps would allow me to show easily.

No such luck; after several searches I gave up.

Quite curious where it is, even though I have no plans to visit Basel in this life.

Look for the place were oaks squat like example above and you will find it else follow a flock of squating geese!

The Honour Plate is in the courtyard of Hotel Basel, which is located just off a street in Marktplatz (the main market square in Basel).

If you are coming by train from the Basel SBB, take No. 8 (direction Kleinhuningen) or 11 tram (direction St. Louis Grenze) and get down at Marktplatz. There you can ask anyone where is Hotel Basel. Its just 150 odd metres from the tram stop.

If you are coming from the airport, take No. 50 bus to the Basel SBB station and then follow directions as above.

Enjoy, I was there when the honour plate was "created" and it was a great occasion.

Roger Who...? Do you really like this personality cult?

Oh look at you. Is it jealousy I detect? Greatest athlete in Swiss history. All of Switzerland is proud of him except for some weirdos.

No. That simple.

It's the OP's first ever post, and a perfectly reasonable request for information which doesn't seem to be very easy to find via the usual means.

Please show some humanity, Mr Hegel.

Oh no zürihegel, c'mon now, even if you don't like what you call "personality cult" you must admit Roger has done a mighty good job and deserve a bit of attention no?

Yes sir! This is a funny place, anyhow! I like it. Seriousely.

At your orders, Miss Sada

Now, what's about this de-li-cious daark beer again...?

Thanks Everyone

I went there yesterday and I found it very close to Spalenberg.

Thanks sooooooo much
