For the ones looking for a flat/room...

I'm looking for a place to live in Davos, before moving there, and I've been offered a fake room (I believe)

I posted and add in wgzimmer and recently a girl got in contact to offer me a room. A really nice room, good price (750CHF) with all included.

I believed everything since she sent me pictures. I 've seen that, in a mirror, a blue wall was reflected, a blue wall that wasn't in any other picture. I've thought it was normal, maybe just a corridor, but I've decided to check the pictures in Google images (you can upload pictures and google will search for websites with those or similar pictures). My surprise when I've seen that pictures where from different advertisements all over the world. Then I've checked the address in Google maps and, even Maps indicates a site, it doesn't look like there is a building (in the satellite).

I answered the mail, to see what she is going to say. But after an small research about other cases I'm sure she will ask me to transfer money through Western Union.

Just wanted to let you know. I checked the pictures because I read in this forum about scams and that made me to suspect. But I easily could have felt for it. Just to remind you that it's better to be aware and that with just a click you can check some things...

I have also discovered fake ads in WG zimmer. Make sure you report it as they take this very seriously.

Any website where ads for housing can be posted free of charge is risky. Even websites where one must pay have been known to have problems but fewer.

If you cannot enlist the help of someone locally to find you a room, try to find a B & B, or contact the tourist office. You may find something which suits your needs temporarily and can conduct a better search once you are there.

In this case it wasn't a posted add, instead they contacted me because I posted and add.

But of course it can happen anyway, both ways.

I've decided to book a hostel for a few days, so I'll be able to go personally to some places I've already checked.
