I have some on my cheeks. I've pretty much ignored it because it basically makes my cheeks look pink, and I never had the other bumps and stuff that goes with it. But it runs in my family. I do have to be careful with makeup - I don't wear anything that sucks in my pores, or any moistureizer that's too heavy.
I find that it can be sensitive to temperature extremes - very cold/very hot. In the US, my dermatologist suggested that spicy food might wreck havoc, and I've heard others talk about caffiene and alcohol. I refuse to give up spicy food.
I did try a cream in the US for a while, but it just didn't make a big difference. I suppose it really depends on how severe and annoying it is.
Yeah.. it comes and goes.. it's an auto immune related disease and your diet plays no part in the inflammation. It's just unlucky genes... (Drives me crazy how often diet is said, by unqualified people, to be related to various diseases.. it's usually not.. but it's one of the few variables in life you can control so you're pray to cranks and swindlers)
It's also not related to keeping your skin 'clean'... of course you should do that anyway.. but plastering on acne creams is more likely to just aggravate already inflamed tissue.
I've been prescribed various creams by dermatologists.. mostly steroid based.. but have had little success. But.. that has to be your best option.. get a referral and keep trying different, professionally prescribed, solutions..
a friend of mine suffers this on her back and chest and was advised my her doctor to use an anti-dandruff shampoo... sounds bizarre but it worked! obviously might not for everyone but thought i'd share.
I have very sensitive skin, and have to be very careful with make-up or too much moisturiser. As long as I am careful, I can keep it under control- although I always have rosy cheeks. I was sold a 'purple' shampoo to keep my grey hair looking silver- and this caused a terrible reaction- and took months to control. My GP prescribed Rosalox (DrossaPharm Basel, prescription only) and it has really helped.
Poor you, I don;t have it but I have acne. Even though it ha snot been proven that certain foods can improve/worsen acne/skin conditions it has to be evaluated on a personal level. I would recommend asking your dermatologist, which I hope you have, if you would benefit from facials. I have one every 3-4 weeks, mind you they are quite pricey but my skin is sooo much better!
I was going last year to a dermatologyst in Zurich for 8 months. He said I had normal acne, so I was taking roacutan all that time. Got better but after 3 months of stopping I start having lots of problems again. The last days I am having all rosacea symptoms. I found a new dermatologyst in my new place and I will go next week.
It is painfull. I feel my skin will crack the next second. I am even not able to smile properly!
What I find really helps with sore skin is tepid black tea. Make quite strong tea and let it cool. Soak thin gauze and cover and leave on your face, or put it in a little spray bottle. (Do be aware though, that it might stain your clothing if it drips) My mum used this on us any time we suffered from sunburn. It wont help your condition as such, but you might get some relief for a while.
I had quite bad skin, a type of acne that started in my 30's, and I have found that it is related to my diet. So it might be worth looking into.
Sorry, I don't want to derail your thread, but don't want to open another thread for this,
I have reddish not exactly pimple but very very tiny painless boils on the upper arm, does anyone know what it is, I had been to the apotheke, they say its normal many have them and asked me to just put moisturizer it does not help though.
I am 30, and before I never had a single problem with my skin. I think I have a quite healthy diet. But I know I always had problems to assimilate vitamis...I maybe should take some extra in pils.
I had lovely skin until I was in my 30's, no problems in puberty at all. Maybe it was my pregnancies that brought it on, or the fact that I stopped using oral contraception. Or the stress. I have since found out that my skin reacts to certain food types (mainly fish so it's nothing to do with eating healthy or not). I'm not saying that this is your problem, I only mentioned it because it might help you in some way. Its very individual. Any vitamin pills that I took brought on an acne outburst, but that's not to say that the same will happen to you.
