Way off topic but HEY!! This is the off topic section right?
Apparently tomorrow (Saturday) is an important day on the Russian orthodox Church calendar and my girlfriend would like to know if any members are aware of any such church in Switzerland? Preferably in the Zuerich or Solothurn areas?
All comments gratefully received and thanks in advance.

There's a very large Russian population in Zurich, so there's definitely going to be some stuff happening.
I found this link with a quick google search, you should be able to come up with more with a bit of looking
BTW, I think it is Christmas on the Orthodox calendar.
Thanks for the rapid response Evilshell.
My girlfriend celebrates her Christmas on the 7th January. The holy day that she is observing now is Jesus' baptism.

Check out
www.russ-orth.ch
I have no clue what the website says, as it is in Russian, but the church is in Narzissenstrasse 10 in Kreis 6.
There is also
Russisch-Orthodoxe Kirche im Ausland
Hl. Pokrov
Haldenbachstr. 2
8006 Zurich
Tel. (01) 252 98 33
You can find its schedule at http://orthodoxie.ch/directory/time/...landkirche.pdf
No clue which one you need, but I hope this helps.

Ah..I admit to not knowing quite the details like that with any religion, much less with Orthodox!
I hope the info you're getting here is helpful.
Is your girlfriend from Russia?
Thanks Idgie and Evilshell.
I'm going to show her the Russian site now.
My G/f is actually from Kyrgyzstan.
Thanks once again for the help Guys, I really do appreciate it.

Ah, ok. I was going to point you in the direction of some Russians I know in Zurich.
Hope she finds a church she enjoys!
Thanks again Idgie and Evilshell.
Took a drive to ZH yesterday and met a fellow Forum member plus was able (with the aid of my GPS) to find the church. So all's well with the world.
