SAC Hutte

Hi people!, I'm new in EF. I would like to ask you about your experience with SAC and the use of Mountain huts. I'm planning a hiking with my family, even already we are suscribed to SAC UTO but we didn't visit any hut yet. We're in Baden and I'm thinking to try the hut in flumsemberge that is not so far away....

So, what's your experience?

Tnks!

SAC huts are awesome, considerably better than the French ones at least If you go to the hiker-friendly huts, not too high (~2500m), they tend to have running water, those will be luxurious huts, imagine having running water in toilets, and fresh stream water for drinking, which you don't pay for.

The higher and more remote you go (up to 3500m), catering to mountaineers, water becomes a problem, they have dry latrines that are smelly, some huts can only dispense glassfuls of water for brushing, and drinking water costs 8 CHF per litre.

Food tends to be sumptuous, Swiss quality in all huts.

If possible go on weekdays and avoid the crowds

Thanks for your helpful information Chandra. As soon as we have a weekend without rain we will try a hut...
