Salt Internet Speed

Hello everybody

I have a Salt simcard on my phone and also their data simcard at home. I switched to Salt from a prepaid simcard since the prices were attractive. At the beginning the internet speed was satisfactory according to my needs (15 Mbits/s download) although they advertise up to 300 Mbits/s.

Since at least three months ago, the speed has dropped to few 100s of kBits/s. I could get 2 Mbits/s internet for free from my cable provider. Now I am getting a much worse service and have to pay for that.

I sent them an email and complained about this two months ago and they said they are aware of the congestion during peak hours (in the evenings when I am at home and can use the internet!). They asked for my patience as they are working on the problem. The service is still the same and their promotional offers are still trapping new poor customers who think they can expect up to 300 Mbits/s of speed....

Some friends/colleagues of mine are also complaining about this. The problem is that they mention the max speed one can expect from their service and therefore, one cannot terminate the two years contract because of this easily...

Any comments/solutions?

Thank you all.

I am interested in this package and have the same concerns. Anyone else using this with success especially in Meilen/Uetikon?

I have full 4g+ signal on my modem in Lausanne area. To the best of my knowledge, if you get excellent signal and yet the speed is low, this shows limited bandwidth from the provider. They have managed to increase their customers significantly since Orange became Salt, but failed to improve their infrastructure accordingly...

Forget about this package and look for alternatives in my opinion. It does not matter where you live....

I went with the Salt data package paying month to month for exactly this reason, in case my speeds reduced over time and I was locked into a contract. Usually I get about 1.5MB/s download (2.8MB/s upload), but on some evenings (Sunday specifically) it is as low as 100KB/s. I know this is congestion rather than poor signal, as the upload speeds remain 2.8MB/s even during these times. The upload speeds are an indicator of signal, since there is rarely any congestion for uploads.

From what I have read, Salt doesn't throttle the speeds but indeed they are subject to congestion issues. Maybe there is an upgrade of the infrastructure planned for your area?

Unfortunately Salt promise a lot of things that they can't deliver. I swapped from Swisscom to Salt and then swapped back more or less straight away because of connectivity issues, bad signal etc. According to their network map I should have had a good signal but in reality I had a dead phone.

I ended up paying 2 years to them for no service because I was locked in.

Swisscom charge way too much for what you get, but at least it is reliable, in my opinion.

BTW, anyone who has tried Salt can review them here:

It's a famous website that some people will take a look before trying a company. Let's make Salt famous for what they deliver and the newcomers hopefully think twice based on these reviews.

Without any doubt, Swisscon have the very best coverage and service and............most expensive prices.

All goes hand in hand.

The big advantage of Salt is as the phone doesn't work everywhere, gives me more time for my siesta as i am not bothered so much.

If it's important, people either phone back, send a message or solve the problem themselves

I am in Neuchatel and have never had any problems with my Salt reception I routinely get over 90 Mbps down and 35 Mbps up even in the evenings during "prime time" - considering giving up UPC and just using my hotspot on my iPhone...
