First thing I did (other than shoving it in a case and putting a screen protector on) was update the phone software and then root it, so the entire phone is now firmly at my disposal. Loving it.

Normally 1CHF or free phones are old, or low spec or not good sellers.
Rich please write your review a.s.a.p. I'm interested in getting one. Maybe you could tell us which version/processor spec you got.
By the way Rich, you wrote that you 'rooted' your phone. I'm not sure what that is but my Australian friend used to say that he 'rooted' his girlfriend. Do you really love it that much?

Betrayer!
After all the speech about how wonderful Iphone is and Bla bla bla ! You took me into the idea and now you switch to the other camp?
As for rooting... http://www.buzzle.com/articles/why-root-android.html
I keed, I keed.
First impression is good but I've never had a smartphone before to compare it with.
The screen is gorgoeus, best I have ever seen. Also readable in direct sunlight on full brightness. It runs like greased lightning, you just can't slow it down no matter what you do. Everything is pretty much instantaneous. It is quite large physically length-wise... but also incredbily thin and light. It is plastic yet feels sturdy. GPS locks on from cold in less than 5 seconds... I recorded 2 seconds the other day. Stunning. Has a truckload of memory and app storage space... you can install and run what you like and it won't skip a beat. Browsing is amazing and pages scroll like butter. Also... flash content will play 100% smooth from within the browser... you can play Youtube or whatever in 1080p and it will display as smooth as a desktop. Unbelievable! The camera (for a phone) is amazing... never seen anything like it. Photos are well-balanced and detail is fantastic even when zoomed in... cropping is actually possible. I used it as the sole imaging device at the lake yesterday and it is perfect quality for Facebook, they look like they were taken with a budget point and shoot camera, not a phone. Video is also brilliant. I took one today while at the lake where I live (27c today, yowch) and it came out top-notch... I just played it back on my Panny 50" plasma and it genuinely looked great... and I have never been able to say that about a movie shot on a mobile before... it is not easy to fill a large plasma and still retain detail, but this phone manages it. Mind-boggling. Battery life is leagues ahead of any other smartphone of this power. You can get a full day of abuse (browsing, camera, games) from it without breaking a sweat. With light use, 2-3 days is possible.
There is nothing like this on the market, and nor will there be until the Galaxy S III is released.
2 questions.
Is the screen as responsive as an iphone? Does it have that 'instant stuck to your finger quality' that apple seem to have got so right
Do you know how many simultaneous touch position are supported? There are touch screen diagnostic apps that exercise the screen, the iphone was 4, my milestone only 2
