Yes it includes water as well.. but ramadan is only for the healthy and not for women who are pregnant, children, people who are sick or need to take medicines during the day, are travelling etc
Fasting also alterates your taste..the same dish taken during ramadan or normal days do not taste the same. From my experience, they taste better during ramadan.
No food, no drinks, no smoking, no sexe. Nothing in the mouth. If you take medicine, you shouldn't fast. If you need to go to the dentist, you have to skip that day, if a woman has her period, she can skip it and do the fasting later.
Thanks, I've been thinking of what I will prepared for hubby's breakfast. Something he just have to take from the fridge and already mostly prepared. At 4 am, you better not waking up too much if you want to be able to go back to bed.
Just wondering about this. I don't know who decided how long the fasting should last, so I assume it was the prophet. I can also only assume that to make things simpler, in those days where not everyone has a watch, he decided that fasting should be for half a day. Where he lived, the difference in the length of the day between december and june may not be as extreme. So what about people who live in Scotland for example? They fast for 7 hours in winter but 18 hours in summer? What if someone decides to fast for half a day time wise, i.e., 12 hours? Wouldn't this have been the intention anyway?
I also recall some story about a muslim astronaut a couple of years ago - he got some sort of ruling (can't remember what) because in orbit, he would experience something like 6 sunrises/sunsets within 24 hours.
You are not allowed to smoke or have sex during daytime hours like the no eating.... after opening the fast you are allowed Just that you need to take a shower if you have sex before starting your fast.
