where have you seen fear? It's totally different experience to have ramadan in a muslim country and in a non-muslim country.
what most people forgot about ramadan, it's not just a matter of eat & drink. It's about having deep thoughts about ourselves and how we behave with other, it's about solidarity. It's the month of spirituality.
Please remember the less fortunate in this ramadan. My country Pakistan is under severe floods and millions have been displaced. There is fear of starvation... even a donation of 5 EUR would buy one meal for whole family. USAID, UN and other international organizations are collecting money....
I understand the pain they have which is quite disturbing, but I was more upset when I saw on TV that a guy there, preferred to keep his family in the mud but not going to the tent, claiming that he doesn't want his wife to be exposed to the others in tent camps! And he is one of 1000s.
The other one was saying, our god given house is taken by flood, while I think it's the other way, the house they had built has been taken by god!:-(
And I am sure many there, will complain about USAID as it's related to US.
Sorry for that, but people should get rid of superstitions and outdated custumes and belief in order to overcome poverty and have more decent life. Letting family suffer for the sake of such beliefs will not help them at all. This is a damn sad fact which I wanted to point out, though many may not like to hear it.
Ofcourse this particular area is very conservative but u need to understand that in 2005 there was a big earthquake in which over 75,000 were killed, then taliban took over this region and there was a big military operation and over a million had to flee and they stayed in camps in extreme cold and then hot weather. They were collecting pieces of their shattered lives that this flooding occured. All the fields, livestock everything is destroyed. Its a poor region. They are not getting any support (yes our dear president is on a european tour to launch his son's career).
