saying, synonym wanted

damit sicherheit kein zufall ist,

thats the claim a friend of mine wants to have translated for his company. the comp is dealing with security awareness.

i was thinking about safetys not happening by accident,

but find it somewhat stiff n word-by-word translated.

is there any (witty) english synonym, saying, word play?

thx a million.

"Safety does not happen by accident" sounds pretty funny and apt to me.

"Safety's no accident"?

EDIT: Damn, beaten by cyrus.

"Safety is no accident" is a sign I often see on construction sites.

After posting I see that Cyrus beat me by two minutes, Dodger by one. The competition is tough in EF world

Here's your sign:

Problem being ... all these translations talk about safety.

Your friend is in the security business, right?

thats very usefull, thank you!

all others: the point is, he wants to say that security/safety is no

game and therefore chose the right partner, comp x and y.

his comp deals with making people aware of safety (like do not stick pass words to your monitor...etc.) in their IT/office working environment.

The one in our kitchen says,

"Don't learn safety by accident"

IMHO that would be security, not safety. No?

Safety = prevention of accidents, fires ...

Security = prevention of crimes, theft, ...

yeah, security. thats right, tom cat.

so i can swap security for safety?

No.

These two words are often confused by non native-speakers. The locks on a car door are security : the seat belts and airbags are safety .

However, 'accident' is a pun in 'Safety is no accident'. It means that with safety you avoid an accident and this comes about by planning not at random - or 'by accident'...

AbFab is spot-on. You can't swap the two.

What about

"Low crime doesn't mean no crime"

if you decide to use it ..... just don't look for me if somebody decide to sue for copyright infrigements.

"Don't leave security to chance", perhaps?

i've seen this somewhere as well.

thanks a lot! simons version i like best so far, but thx for all inputs.
