Interesting article. Wouldn’t suit me, I like my home comforts.
I’m too much of a homebody for this, but maybe I should try it before I get too old…
I don’t know how this works if you are Swiss.
Nobody checks when I entered another Schengen country for my monthly Aldi fix.
Digital nomad retirees. It could work but it gets overwhelming.
We use Trusted Housesitters to have people stay in our home when we travel. In the past 2 years we have used them 6 times and have 2 more sits already scheduled.
We have come across an Argentine and a Canadian couple who were shuffling. The Canadians had a base in Albania and returned there every 90 days.
PS. If anyone would like to get a Trusted Housesitters account I can give you a recommendation that gives you a 25% discount for your first year This is fore hosts, sitters and both. We get a two month extension to our subscription. Just PM me.
think twice…
I had several friends that were ‘tracked down’ by the tax offices of the countries where they spent ‘some time’. And it is pretty scary what the tax office (from a 3rd country) knew about them!
Anyone who thinks there aren’t license plate cameras at borders is foolish. Doesn’t pinpoint the occupants but you are given the chance to prove them wrong.
I mostly use green crossings
I’m too materialistic for this. I can see the thrill of travel, but I can’t see the business case. There might be a career compatible with, or even impulsed by, this lifestyle, but not mine.
Are we talking surveillance cameras, credit card transactions and cell tower usage or more basic stuff like the casual police report after a bar fight?
much more hassle than asian countries for which it suffice a day trip abroad to extend the visa
I thought this article is about tax avoidance, I know some dudes doing it, but it’s shady as the rules have been patched in EU, each of the countries you visited can claim a full year taxation if they get the knowledge you’re not taxed anywhere else in EU (I’m still curious how they catch such nomads, perhaps only EU citizens as my friends app-store-devs are still doing it, but there’s something in place already)
The former.
