Schools in Affoltern am Albis

Hi

We have finally decided to move to CH after thinking for quite long. I have 2 boys at Kindergarten age (they are at Reception in the UK). I am looking to place them in a local Swiss school starting in August 2012.

Has anyone had good/bad experiences with schools in Affoltern am Albis ? Any school to try to get in / avoid ? I know this is very much London mentality, but as I am not aware of the Swiss primary education system I can't really help it. We still need to find a place to live and we could somehow try to find something in a catchment area of a nice school.

Many thanks!

The schools in AaA are all pretty good. There are 7 KG's in the catchment area and which one you go to depends on where you live, you don't get a choice really. I have friends with kids in several of them and have not heard anything bad so far. The school district is used to dealing with foreign kids coming in who do not speak any German and are good at coping with that.

Hello!

My wife and I are also thinking of moving to A.a.A. and one question we have is whether any of the schools offer the option for full day programmes for kids (ie, in-school lunch, afterschool activities, etc.)? I think they call this Tagesschule?

Thanks!

The schools have block time so kids can start and finish at the same time every day. They also offer Mittagstisch which is served in the school Hort where there is also after school care.

Thanks a lot!

Thanks Lou!

FYI I have asked our local Hort and in case one of you don't work but needs extra time for an interview, doctor, etc, you can take advantage of the facility if you ask in advance and they have availability.
