I have read the other relevant threads which are only a few, it seems like the Swiss Economy is loosening up?

You’d want to read the wording very carefully and ensure it is suitable for your purposes.

My reading of the texts: it says it’s an alternative to the official exams and could be used in legal proceedings. If it as equivalent to the official exams and could be used for permit applications you’d expect that would be front and center. After all it’s the main reason people do the test.

Anyway, after putting in the work why would you do anything but an internationally recognized certification.

they state that the exam is for:

die sich in der Schweiz einbürgern möchten - this is naturalization, I believe.

die eine Aufenthalts- oder Niederlassungsbewilligung beantragen oder verlängern möchten - this is for permit extension or application.

If this is acceptable, I’d do it for naturalization. I’m planning to do the KDE at the moment.

According to Fide, they are accepting this (SDS) Social Development GmbH for B-C permit and citizenship purposes. A1-B2 oral and written.

I know Aswissintheusa made a few posts regarding this awhile back. I am just a bit dumbfounded of going through the Goethe requirements myself, that one can basically take the test on an iPad or tablet and have such an easy overall test. Take a look at the sample questions if you are interested

What's easy about it is that you don't just pass/fail. You answer as much as you can from the set of questions, which get gradually harder as you progress, then you are rated on what you achieved and get A1, A2, B1, B2 etc. accordingly. One drawback, you cannot go back and make corrections to earlier questions, if when you answer a later one you suddenly realise you answered an earlier one incorrectly.

For me it worked fine (although ultimately unnecessary as i was not asked for any evidence when renewing my C permit).
