Searching..

Hello my name is Darlene. I live in France. I subscribed to this forum in hoping I can find some help for finding an english speaking job. I have no degree, just my High School Dipolma. These days that is not enough to find a good job. But here's hoping. All the French people I meet tell me that by my being American I can easily find a job. But where? I have more than 4 years of experience as a secretary. If anyone can point me in a good direction that would be really nice. Thanks for reading.

Sincerely,

Darlene

Hello Darlene,

Do not want to be the bearer of bad news, but bear in mind that if you do not have qualifications and are not either an EU national or married to one it will be nigh impossible to find a Swiss firm willing to apply for a work permit for you.

Ah yes then the work permit. Well, thanks for responding even if you are the bearer of bad news. Are you living in Switzerland? Do you work?

Guilty on both counts.

Do you speak French or German? I suppose you have a degree of some sort.. so what do you do?

I speak Romanian, French, English, German, Spanish (and Italian when given enough wine to bypass shyness).

I've done a Masters in Business Administration and have currently three official jobs, two in the private sector and one in the public sector.

does the public sector job you hold make use of the phrase 'Would you like fries with that?'

Wow... very impressive. You must be a pretty busy guy.

No, not very often.

and by night he prowls Langstrasse to talk the language of lurve...

dave

Efficient too! He gets to jibber-jabber all day long with us.

My value-added / time used ratio is skyhigh.

Your best chance is to apply to one of the large US or UK multinationals, but even then it will be tough as the others said.

Thanks, I've tried looking online for those kinds of companies but all I find is crap.
