Seat Sat Nav

Hi,

Does anyone have a pre-2021 Seat?

I recently bought a 2020 model Ateca. I am just realising that updating the SatNav maps may not be simple. The website says, pre-2021 models need a Map Care subscription (not impressed) but it does not say how much this costs or how to actually get it.

Any help would be fab, thanks.

Oh, a „SeeAt“ as in car… My first thought was why would you have a sat nav in a seat?

I had a quick look.
It may be possible to update the maps without a subscription (depending on model/year etc) -have a google and look around the Seat forums. The maps sit on the SD card so do not affect the actual GPS firmware if you do try to update yourself.

Yes, if it doesn’t require the physical disk (and certainly some VAG systems did, albeit probably not recent ones) it’s just a question of finding a pirate copy somewhere and downloading it. Not always completely straightforward though. Otherwise you need to find someone who can burn the DVD or find a second-hand copy, which were generally available at around half-price for last years model, descending for older versions, when I last looked into it.

TBF though, that was a few years ago - now replaced with Android head units, much simpler all round.

I tried downloading it from Seat website onto an SD card - but the car wouldn’t recognise it. I am not sure how the car would know if I have a map care subscription or not.

Have you asked an official dealer how much it would cost?

I would ask on a forum regardless, so you really get the latest version.
