Second baby-new stroller or not new stroller...

Hello there!

Second baby is due in about 3 months and I am unsure what to do stroller wise...

For my first, we had a Quinny Buzz 4 wheels with carrycot. I loved the carrycot and dislike the seat of such buggy...

Actually, there are a couple of things I dislike about it...

1) The seat in the face mommy position does not go upright, so need to change them facing out pretty fast

2) The basket below is very small

3) The sunshade is not big enough at all

Other than that it is not bad... it drives well, baby loved it, hubby loved it etc etc

Obviously I know each stroller has it ups and downs...

But... and maybe blame the hormones, I am annoyed that I will have to use it again when I do not like some aspects of it and I am wondering whether I should get a new one...

Now, I know that when my first child was about 1 yr I moved on to the Maclaren and would most likely do it again but in the first year I like them being into something more solid and spacious etc.

So deep down, I know I could survive what I dislike and just go with it as strollers are very expensive etc but I cannot stop obsessing that I feel like having just what I want for when baby is there....

So have been on the Teutonia website and think this would have been a much better choice for us (am pretty convinced we did not choose well)

Hubby already said 'Absolutely not" as he sees no reason to spend the money... I am annoyed at not having sold the Quinny when I stopped using it as obviously, it would have sold better value and also I would have the excuse to buy a new one now

Mommies and Daddies out there... what would you do???

I am changing our stroller. Many reasons:

1- it is very girly, even if my boy won't care at that point.

2- it is heavy for having a baby in + a toddler on a board to push.

Beside that, I loved my stroller! It is so comfy for a baby and for me to push. The under basket is huge.

So we decided to sell it (sniff) and buy a new one. We are going to pick it up tonight. We took the Quinny Zapp Xtra.

This time we don't have the Carrycot but I did some thinking and the time we use it is so short anyway. The baby can be on us (in a sling) or in the car seat that we can click on the frame of the Quinny.

The nicest part with the Quinny Zapp Xtra is that the seat can face us and change later on, plus the baby can lay back since it is a reclinable seat.

On this one the sunshade is big and yes it is true the under basket is very small thought... But is it a very light stroller which will be a blessing with both kids on it.

Get a like-a-bike for the big kid, or another "expensive" toy that the big kid, and then the little kid can use. (if you really feel you wish to "spend money" on the new kid.. or just put the money in a box)

in saying that we had a "new" pram for every kid.. and none were ever good enough

Hauck for the first kid, and oh did i "need" a 2 seater when the second kid was born.. which i had sold by the time kid 3 came along..

i also "felt" i needed a new car seat every time a new kid was born

Totally understand your feelings! I felt the same. But was good. And kept my old buggy.

And then it only went and catastrophically broke on me when child number 2 was about 18 months (wondered where child had gone whilst shopping in Migros ... on subsequent investigation of mewling sound discovered seat back frame and seat had split and child had slid into the shopping basket underneath with only head, hands and feet visible where child had previously been sitting ...) So he was too young not to have a buggy at all (particularly as we spend the summers high up in the mountains in a car free village only reachable by cablecar and the buggy is a blessing for getting child and shopping up there/days out/ getting to the place etc ... perhaps if it hadn't been for that, I might have tried to make do without ..?? not sure ..)

Anyway, I upgraded to a lovely mountain buggy and then felt sad that I hadn't been able to use all along when he was small!

So my advice, check out the integrity of your frame and seat and see if a catastrophic failure might not imminently be in order.

Thanks for your story... I think I need to be good too but really hard... am a bit obsessive about this right now... nestig/hormones or whatever but it is hard....

Hm...I wouldn't get a new one if I were you ,I'll probably use the same pram/stroller again but I totally understand your feelings! LOL! :>)

We are excpecting our second child in May.

The Quinny is just awesome! I am loving it! If yours is in good shape, keep it!

How old are you two children(/will they be)?

The other argument would be to get a double buggy , especially if you have a lot of walking to do.

Otherwise, would agree with your husband. Buying buggies "just because" a couple of things are wrong is a tad extravagant... Alternatively, what about getting a second-hand one, which would make it slightly less expensive?

We have the Quinny Buzz and the Quinny Zapp. The Buzz for when we go walking in the mountains and the Zapp for town, shopping etc. It is so light it fits behind my drivers seat. I can not work the Buzz on my own. I find it huge. The Zapp was awesome for travelling, it has a bag which it folds into as hand luggage on the plane. It is smaller than my carry on.

Word of warning about the zapp. It is light, very light. Don't hang to much shopping on it or baby and shopping end up on the floor! More so when it is a buggy than when you use the Maxi Cosi.

Hello!

Children will be 2.5 yrs apart and since we will buy a bike trailer, will use that as double buggy when needed. My older is in full time daycare so times we will need double buggy are limited. weekends we can use 2 if needed as we have a Maclaren for our older child anyway.

Or use the buggy board for her etc.

I am totally open to second hand, in fact have been looking as this could be a zero expense as I could sell mine and buy a new one for about same price.

I realize myself it is extravagant BUT.... I am obsessing so need to close this down in my head or will spend my maternity leave thinking my baby does not have the best it could have.... I know, pregnant women ar ecrazy

thanks, I am talking about the Buzz only. As a lightweight stroller I have the Maclaren of which I am an absolute fan

Hi there,

I know this won't help you resist temptation..........but, i have a teutonia pram, and i couldn't recommend it enough. it's light, so easy to push/steer, comfortable for the baby, excellent quality, easy to fold up ..........i could go on! i love it.

when i went back to ireland for a holiday a friend lent me a quinny to use, it was just so awkward, instable, and difficult to use in comparison. i couldn't wait to get back to my teutonia. i also bought mine second hand. go for it........you'll spend a lot of your time with a pram now, and you should enjoy it

So....

thought I'd come back and let you know how the obsession has developed

Went to a shop and asked all the questions and I really want the new stroller, I basically believe life with a newborn will be unmanageable unless I have this particular stroller....

Hubby and I reached the agreement that I can buy it as long as not too much money is lost so have to sell our old one and buy a second hand one and I think this is a fair compromise so we are happy....

Yep, fair compromise. We did it like that. Actually, our Quinny cost us almost nothing because of the stroller we sold and some other items as well. So no money came out of our account, just from one pocket to the other pocket!
