second hand furniture shops in zurich?

i've tried looking this forum for second-hand furniture shops, there are some mentioned, but have you seen a list or a page with all of them?

or what is usual way how people in switzerland call it in german ? also second-hand ?

Brockenhaus, I think. Try googling that.

Just make sure the things you buy are not brocken.

are you sure it's Brockenhaus? i've tried looking for it in maps.google.com near post code 8050, and first 5 i found are more about old stuff, but not furniture... like clocks, books and so on.

maybe some specific name for furniture second-hand shops?

anyways, thanks, i will keep looking

Brockihaus have got buckets of old stuff, including some furniture. That said- we bought some old furniture (bookshelves, wardrobes etc) and we found it through expat forums like this one.

If its urgent, its worth trawling through the brockihaus (especially one in Dietlikon is particularly good, I've been told). If not so urgent, trawl through expat forums and see what you get

It is called Brokenhaus, there is one near to Zurich main train station.

here is the link. http://www.zuercher-brockenhaus.ch/flash.php

I bought 60% of my furnitures there when I first moved to Zurich, (didn't know how long I was going to stay and didn't want to spend a fortune.)

The funiture there are usually in good-shape. It is when people are moving out their house and didn't want to bring their stuffs with them. In Zurich as soon as involving a labour work, it will cost an arm and a leg, so when people are moving, instead of paying somebody to dump their stuffs, they called brokenhaus and have it remove for free. Brokenhaus collect it and re-sale it (for a real decent price!)

Brokenhaus actually means a "broken home", it doesn't means they have broken stuffs. ;-)

The Swiss-German for it is Brocki. Doing your googling for you, I came up with:

http://www.brocki.ch/

http://www.fundgrueb.ch/brockenhaus/

thanks for all the answers, any other that you recommend? in Zurich or near it

Check brokenhaus in Dubendorf.

brockenhaus not only has some but s.h.i.t.loads of furniture stuff!

check zurich hb one.

You'll find functional but rarely funky items in a Brocki.

Try somewhere like Bogen 33 for more hipster pieces (site in German). It's by the Hardbrücke station, next to the Helsinki Bar, Freitag Store and Rosso Restaurant. All rather good places to know

check the below link:

Möbel covers only furniture and some of the furniture is high-end

if you are looking for inexpensive, try Brockenhaus, as the others suggested

thanks.

do you know if they provide any way to transport furnitures to your home? so let's say i bought a bed, or a sofa, can i pay them to transport it, and it will be still much cheaper than new one? (if they provide transport option at all).

if not, do you know any van renting companies ? renting 'man with a van' seems like a not a good idea in switzerland (money, quality of service, at least this is what i read here)

so maybe just renting a van and moving it with help of my wife, of course if it will be small enough... big sofa rather not, but few chairs, or bed that can be deconstructed or something, why not.

The really cheap Brockis don't usually have this service. If you don't have your own transport between the time and money, special offers at Ikea would work out cheaper. Brockis are brilliant if you have time and patience and a good eye! But don't do flat packs.

i have a car, but it's standard one, a sofa won't fit there

if any of you know any cheap way of transporting, please let me know. and i guess i will look at ikea again, and forget price differences i see between different countries. (i just hate paying more for the exact same product as for example germany! )

If you are coming to live here you just better get used to it! Otherwise you will have an ulcer in no time. Since when do local labour costs not come into it?

Also, at the brocki, definitely ask for a 'job lot' price - you can definitely bargain them for the delivery - and possibly for several large furniture items bought together.... but expect it to be maybe 150+ CHF anyway for the labour/truck costs...by comparison in Australia my local charity store would deliver anything within the local area for $40!

Definately bargain. When it comes to prices they will bring them down if they have too much stock... After a flu epidemic or...

There was a list of 2nd hand shops in internet, but the link doesnt work anymore:

How about the E-bay of CH: http://www.ricardo.ch/

I have compared the prices in Ikea CH and DE, some of the products are cheaper (e.g. my mattresses) in CH, some cheaper in DE. You can have 50% discount of the delivery or renting a van from Ikea (at least in Spreitenbach), if you show a bus/train ticket.

juice99:

There is another way of cheap transporting:

Ricardotrans:

Before you buy something through Ricardo, you can check with Ricardotrans, their own transporting company and with the seller if they agree and if they do, you can have entire cupboards and sofas transported by them.

Haven't found anything cheaper, except renting a car for an hour maybe.

And: If you go to IKEA by pubic transportation, they will only charge half of the delivery price once you show them the train ticket at the customer service, so that'll make it a lot cheaper too.

try this website http://www.interio.ch/ And click on Mobelborse (for all the second hand furniture)
