If you want just plain cheap second hand furniture, Galetas in Blecherette has quite a large selection. http://www.csp.ch/vd/brocantes/
If you are looking for cool second hand furniture there is a shop in one of the old warehouses in the Flon. It has lots of mid-centrury, funky stuff as well as a cute little cafe in the middle of the showroom. It is on the opposite side of the road to the Flon entrance of the newly renovated Migros centre. Can't remember the name off hand. Any one of our Lausanne residents know the name of it?

I was reading about this new service that acted as a clearinghouse/intermediary for all used household items that people did not want anymore. It is www.levidegrenier.ch , operating out of Gland as I recall (not too far from Lausanne). As it is new, I have no experience, but it seemed like a good idea.
