Seed Catalogues

Hello all,

Does anyone happen to know a good catalogue (or even better, a good website) for ordering seeds (mainly veg and herbs) for the garden and balcony? I have found a couple of websites but am keen to hear any personal recommendations. Our garden centre has a pretty limited selection.

Thanks!

These folks sell all kinds of seeds. There's a downloadable PDF catalog , though it's dated 2012.

These folks do flower seeds only.

Both websites are in German. If that makes them useless to you, maybe there's a UK dealer (or Amazon UK?) who would sell and ship them to you.

Best of luck!

Important one, as they try to protect old species !!!

I usually get mine from Landi. They also have planting by the moon books as well if that interests you.

Thanks a lot for that. I'll take a look. German will be no problem. I can look up anything tricky, and I know most of the veg and herbs in German anyway.

I found our local Landi had a pretty small selection, and I didn't see an online service. Did I miss something?

Just checked these people out. Fantastic recommendation thanks a million. Can't wait to try all these interesting looking original Swiss varieties, especially the tomatoes.

You've made my day!

My personal favorite, unfortuntely not in english:

I don’t think they have an online service. I usually got all my seeds from the shop.

I guess it depends on what you want to grow. I was into veggies and I grew tomatoes, lettuce, radishes, onions, leeks, green beans (short and tall varieties) and carrots. I also tried cauliflower and curly kale, neither of which grew very well for me. The only thing I didn’t get from Landi was the tomato plants which I bought at Jumbo.

That's another brilliant recommendation. Thank you! Somehow it's hard to get these good sites by googling alone.

So while I have the gardeners amongst you on the case: Does anyone know where I can get some kelp-based fertiliser or something similarly high in potassium but ideally organic? Greensand would be good, but I can't locate that anywhere. Plagron Alga Bloom seems to be available at a few online shops. Any other recommendations?

Thanks a lot!

There is a large garden center in Hesingue (Villa Verde I think) I noticed on time they has a load of seed packets on display and seedlings BUT isn't it too late to start planting seeds now ?

Thanks.

Yes, we only got hold of our garden a few weeks ago. There are a few things I want to plant in the late summer and autumn, but mostly I'm just planning for next year.
