Selling a car, is this person scamming?

I'm selling my car now on Autoscout and this guy wrote me in the morning that he's interested, he wrote in French, so I translated the message using google translate, this is what he wrote me.

Scammer?: I contact you for your vehicle Audi A4 Avant for sale on AutoScout24.ch I am interested I would like to know if it is still available

Me: Hello, yes the vehicle is still available.

Scammer?: Ok perfect my name is Arend Olivier of Luxembourg origin currently living in Tunisia in Tunis for work and here with the crisis of the Sahel it is complicated to buy at good price at the level of the vehicles this is why I contact you for your vehicle which interests me much I would like to buy it if possible and export it.

Me: OK, but are you now in Zurich?

Scammer? Ok super perfect just that I could not be present on the spot so I would like to have here more pictures especially inside trunk and engine and if there is agreement of purchase I intend to proceed in advance by bank transfer and after reception of the funds on your account you will confirm me and I will organize with a company which will come to recover the vehicle to take care of the administrative formalities and export the vehicle

If he makes the bank transfer first (without us making an agreemente, signing a contract) And I would give the car to that company, how does this scam work? Does he get a refund from the bank?

Following.

Scam

Different variations - some use deposits with fake cheques which initially register but then are reversed after a few days.

Look up common car scams, this is a standard one.

So obvious a scam.

Why would someone living in Tunisia be interested in a Swiss car? Got to be cheaper anywhere else - of course it's a scam...

it is a known scam.

Most of the times they will send you fake/photoshopped invoices/bank statements etc. of overpaying for the car or the transport company and will ask you to reimburse him the overpaid amount.

Common scam - but as someone who has previously bought a car (in Europe - Belgium to be precise) for Africa, there are cases where this happens.

The Swiss ex-army jeeps are a common occurrence of this. If you have time to waste, follow them on and post here... I reckon it will turn out to be a scam, but still could be fun to follow

And this was in 2016

Hi loliki,

I experienced exactly the same with this exact guy from Tunisia. Played the game a little longer until it turned out that he needs me to transfer the amount of CHF 490 as a deposit to secure the bank transfer of the purchase price. In return he would then increase the price to cover me for this deposit ....

So, thats the kind of scam, never heard of him again since I wrote him, I wont transfer any money to a buyer .....

I was contacted by other people out of Tunisia (?), seems to be trendy ....

Cheers
