Selling on eBay here in Switzerland - info?

Heyo,

OK, I have a feeling there's a few of you guys that'll cringe at the sound of the words eBay and PayPal. I've looked through some threads when I put "ebay" in the search fields. Unfortunate some of the experiences and scams that have befallen. I've only had a few hiccups with them, but nothing that was deal-breaking (knock on wood).

I've considered Ricardo BUT I'm pretty established, for the most part, on eBay. When I lived in the states I did sales there on the side. Nothing near sustainable income, but good for hobby expenditures. Sustained a 100% with 900+ FB Rating buying and selling.

Now that I'm more-or-less settled in here, I'm looking at throwing some stuff up from time to time. Albeit I'm unfamiliar with whatever 'rules' they have where in CH.

I'm not planning on selling anything of substantial value. It's not a Business. Nothing over 100CHF that I know of off the top of my head. I've already set my eBay preferences and contact info to CH and have a verified PayPal.ch account liked together. Made a few purchases here and that part is connected.

I use GarageSale for listing items. Looks like that's set up for CH now.

So, some questions are for those in-the-know...

- Do I need to report personal sales?

- Do I need to charge a TAX?

- I wish to target CH ONLY at first. I know that limits visibility but I'm not familiar yet with postage rates and stuff yet. I work full-time so running to the post for post rates, unless it's on a Saturday, is challenging.

- Am I over thinking it and just post some stuff already?

Any input, tips and advice would be appreciated. I'm sure more questions will arise as I go along.

I noticed that going to ebay.ch doesn't reroute to ebay.de anymore. Wonder if they are seperate now.

Thanks in advance!

You'll struggle to find people that have paypal in Switzerland plus everybody is using ricardo. Payment is done by bank wire in advance.

No need to "report" personal sales even if they are quite substantial. Lots of people sell quite expensive stuff on ricardo that comes with no warranty nor a receipt, it's just selling of personal belongings.

Postage cost is very clear, check the Post Office web page and you'll see the cost for each package.

I'd ditch ebay if you want to target CH audience.

I have some interesting things to sell (stuff out of the old barn) and have registered with eBay.

The Pay Pal thing the guy at the bank said is not neccessary (?) as I opened a seperate account for our eBay dealings.

I have a question for those selling stuff ....... I see that deliveries are made mostly with DHL ...... how does one go about this? Are cartons/boxes picked up from my house, or do I have to deliver them to a central point at DHL? Sorry, I have been Googling their site, but after hours of perusing can`t find the details I`m looking for

I have thought of just using the post office .... but then there are also some rather large items like a vintage baby pram, small tables, etc.

I just found eBay easier (for me) as it`s in English, and Ricardo is all in German.

im a fan of ebay usa and uk. i buy lots of things. but realised that there is nothing in the switzelrand ebay.

most people seem to be selling on ricardo even if its not as popular as ebay uk.

but ricardo is more used than ebay in switzerland..

its a pity

ive noticed that ebay ch (switzerland) are making pubblicity on tv too recently..and they have a building in bern but i dont know what that is for..

regardin fees ebay is ridiculous.. how about ricardo?
