hi people!
i know that some of you have lived in dubai so you might be able to help me
my little sister recently moved there. it is her birthday soon and i want to send her a present. so i was wondering, how does it work with customs there? is it like here, will she have to pay upon receiving my pack? i obviously don't want to send a gift if she will have to pay too much.
thanks for your help!
Have you considered buying a gift from a UAE website with local (or possibly free) delivery and no customs?
I did something similar for a friend in Australia through an Aussie website.
There are plenty of expats in Dubai and I expect also plenty of local online gift shops serving them.
thanks for the advice! yes i thought about that but i would like to send her a more "personalised " gift, i.e. a pack with stupid little things plus one "big" present. maybe i should just send the pack with the small things and order online from a UAE website her main present
Dubai is a duty free country but I am not sure if taxes would apply to a gift sent there. I am sure you could find more via Google on the subject. My daughter lives in Dubai and I recently shipped her some pictures and she mentioned nothing to me about paying duty on the import.
thank you. so far i didn't find any information online but, to be fair, i didn't look hard enough yet. i wouldn't expect duty to be paid for pictures you send but for items of commercial value.
ok, im off to google!
