Service Cost of Car from authorised garage

Hi All,

I want to take my car serviced for first time in Zurich (It is 2004 Nissan Primera, a 2 lts 140 hp Automatic which I bought in dec 06).

Just wanted to know what is the average cost of regular service which includes the washing, oil change etc.

Any information would be highly appreciated.

If it's a 2004 model, it could be that it's still under warranty, which would mean the service would be covered! A typical warranty covers the first 100000 km or 3 years, whichever is reached first... You should take a look at the service history of the car, and then phone a Nissan dealer and find out!

Yaa, I checked it and it is early 2004 model so out of cover. I'll call up a nissan dealer.

BTW, still wondering wha should be the cost?

I don't know about your specific car but I found that when I was taking my (admittedly ageing) Golf cabrio to an AMAG dealer for regular services, I was ending up paying around 500CHF a time for what amounted to little more than oil/filter/screenwash/wiper blade changes.

That said, you can get ripped off by private garages too. I made the mistake of asking a local one to prepare my car for the auto-inspection and got reamed with 750CHF of charges for 'testing' (they ran their own battery of tests analagous to the ones that the official test centre does for 80CHF) and then about 1300CHF of 'work' which was a minor service plus the replacement of some rubberised seals.

The moral: If you find a good garage then stick with it.

Thanks guys for all the suggestions. The guy at Nissan Garage in Oberrieden was decent enough and did a good service and charged around 475 chips. It was good.

Hi, I just took my Subaru Outback to Austria to get serviced. It needed full servive in addition to replacing rear brake pads and discs. the bill was a whopping €750. My guess is that I would have paid a little higher in Switzerland, but not much. My take out - next time I will save myself the hassle and get the car services in Zurich. I used a Subaru garage in Wallisellen for some earlier work and was pleased. I will use him again in the future.
