Setanta / Sky Sport

I bought a satellite dish a couple of days ago. I really would like to sign in for Setanta Sports and Sky Sports. Does somebody know if this is possible in Switzerland? If yes, what do I have to do? Cheers

Not a direct answer, but you can get sports for free on www.myp2p.eu . Mostly the quality is good and you can connect it to your TV with the right cables.

If you mean the same you can get with sky uk service, you will need to get a grey sky setup.. see sticky's for details.

D

Or keep it legal and sign up with teleclub. Teleclub have feeds from both sky and setanta.

Check the lineup for saturday and sunday, if its football you're after it'll probably fit your needs...

Do the Premier League games on teleclub have English commentary? Also, do they show only Premier League or also FA Cup and/or League Cup?

Thanks in advance!

Teleclub only shows league games, no cup. Commentary can be in English or German, provided your TV allows you to switch.

It's nothing to do with your TV, the teleclub cable box can switch between audio channels. All the league games come with english commentary. For the champions league games, it depends on where the feed is coming from which languages they offer.

So in addition to the 39,90 chf/month teleclub basic and 9,90 chf/month teleclub sport package, you also need to get a teleclub cable box? or is this included in the price of the basic package?

The box is included with the package.

Whilst this isnt relevant to you with your satellite dish, its also possible to get the teleclub package as part of the cablecom digital television service. If you do this, then you pay the same for the teleclub and a few francs extra for the basic cablecom package. As this comes with BBC and ITV1,2,3,4 you're pretty much sorted for FA Cup and internationals as well. This is the reason I never got a satellite dish...

I kind of hijacked the thread, sorry about that. I don't have satellite or any cable box either at the moment, just basic analog cablecom from the apartment wall outlet. Now I just need to consider if it's worth trying to get the package anymore for this season.

Sorry, my fault for not reading the user names correctly! If you order today you'd probably be up and running by the weekend. In fact, you can wonder into places like Jelmoli and pick up a teleclub box and go home and plug it in. Then you just need to call up teleclub and get them to activate it. Take your passport with you for ID, and your ausweis too for good measure.

Thanks for the info. I was looking around for some "Thank" button, but seems it only shows up after a few more posts. So I will just have to do it in writing this time.

Cheers!

something else to note:

Teleclub via Cablecom provides 3 sports channels. During the ice hockey playoffs, or if there are major games in the Swiss Football league, none of the channels will show EPL games. In addition, if there are more than one matches at the same time, with one match carried by Sky and the other on Setanta, they will only show one of them but not both.

Teleclub via Bluwin TV (via Swisscom), has something like 14 sports channels, so you would not have the above problem! The package is also slightly cheaper.

According to the Swisscom website, they don't offer bluwin tv at our new address. The cablecom wiring was also so old that the cablecom hispeed Internet didn't work (technician came to check it out), and my landlord said that the only option for Internet access is ADSL through Swisscom. Hopefully the cabling is good enough for that and for cablecom digital tv.

I thought that Swisscom TV came through ADSL?

If you can't get cablecom internet because of poor cabling in the house, there is almost no chance of getting digital TV.

The box that comes with the package - I assume that this also covers the free-to-air channels Europsorts, SF1/2, TSR1/2 etc that I currently get now on analogue.

Ie I could 1) get a digital set-top-box to watch the free-to-air (digital) channels for 170CHF or 2) go for the Teleclub box for 40CHF a month plus package extras (sports etc) starting at 10CHF/month. I would definitely go for option 2. I see they charge a one-off connection charge of 95CHF though, but still its worth it.

BTW - Teleclub via cable are offering a fantastic deal that ends tomorrow (31-Aug-09) free sports or the superpackage for 10CHF extra a month for 6 months! Pretty sweet me thinks.
