SF bi de Lüt

Hi,

I just found the SF bi de Lüt podcasts but I haven't figured out yet what "bi de Lüt" means. I don't think a simplistic translation works.

that means "with the people".

Thanks, I thought it might derive from Leute but then I found that in Switz people use a verb (luten?) other than rufen (for "to call") so I thought it might be linked to that.

the Swiss word 'lüüte' meaning 'to call' is related to the German verb Läuten (to ring) - so they're literally saying 'give him a ring'...but bi de lüt is as mentioned above - "among the people"

not quite - alüüte means to call on the phone (the a coming from the german an), lüüte means to ring.

Do every dialects got ridd of the -e ? bi de lüüte in dativ Plural would be the theory... from lüüt (always plural).

I don't know what it is but it is live on SF1 from Chur at present
