Will a cherry picker help? They're not that expensive to hire for a day - and you should be able to hire a person or two who knows what they're doing.
Price list from a quick Google search near Zurich (so you might find cheaper and nearer)
I guess you just blew any chance that Phil, who is a very helpful guy, might have offer to lend you his ladder. And maybe, had you been a bit nicer DK, who is also very nice, might have offered to come over with Phil and sort it for a couple of beers.
All that aside, as it was you who viewed the flat, signed the contract and moved in, maybe you should GTFO.
Piece of chipboard large enough to cover the entire opening
Some thin foam
An adjustable prop
A large piece of wood
Instructions
1) Cover the chipboard in the foam
2) Place the large piece of wood on the floor in the centre of the skylight
3) Fix the piece of wood to one end of the prop - foam side up
4) Place prop on the large piece of wood and adjust until squeezes tight against the ceiling.
The large piece of wood protects the floor and the foam protects the ceiling.
At Christmas you could decorate the prop with tinsel and lights and save money on a Christmas tree.

Easy to install/remove. And also flexible in case you feel some vitamin D deficiency...
Edit: And by the way... it just looks so shiny anyway 'cause the camera was sensitive to light...
To answer a previous question, Hornbach sells the film that cuts 99% UV and 45% of the heat load but still lets in a decent amount of light. It comes in 90x200 rolls for CHF 29.90. You find it in the curtains department.
These window shades can have one side that reflects the heat back out. It is a type of silver coating. They carry this at Hornbach as well (need to order to size though).
But there are many types... here some good examples:

If you want the room really dark, maybe a Verdunkelungsrollos
If you want less light than that, it should be covered from the outside.
HTH
Borrow my oxy acetylene kit, light the torch but don't open the Oxygen valve at all. Stand on a chair and hold the torch up in the opening of the skylight until you have deposited enough soot.
When you go to move out, just break the window. Insurance should cover it.
Failing that,
Rent a ladder at some place that I know about but you don't.
What you need is someone who does blinds and is an electrician. try Rohr Storen in Rietheim. You should talk to the landlord and try and do a deal to share the cost. Also, get the landlord to agree to leave it.
In Japan we had Velux roof windows and the heat was unbearable. We could not apply film as this would affect the properties of the glass. We complained until finally the landlord ordered A motorized sun shade.
Can a shutter be installed on the outside? That might be another option.
This just screams septic......
If you only came to this post because you want some banter, go to a different section of the forum, or go have a Cheeky Nandos without me (i.e. GTFO)
Despite regular threads about older members posting unhelpful and abusive replies, many still seem unable to control themselves? And then get upset when told to GGF or whatever those initials signified. When posting sarcastic tripe, don`t expect gratitude, and don`t get upset when you`ve annoyed the person asking for advice.
Better to practice one`s sarcasm among one`s own personal friends, than to strangers on a forum - one may be doing actual harm and be unaware of the outcome.
