Hi there,
First of all, I am new to forums and never posted anything. Please bare with me if I am not doing this right...
My name is Rita and I moved away from Lucerne, Switzerland when I was 20 and moved to San Francisco, CA where I have been living the last 20 years.
Now I am back in Lucerne and looking to get all my childhood belongings back to SF cheaply since we need to clear out my dad's apartment.
I am willing to share a container or something like this. I don't need to have my stuff in SF at a certain time, since I am not in a hurry and shipping costs way to much since there is a lot of heavy stuff like a night stand, my doll house, my parents' dishes etc. Any advice of what company I could ask or if I could share part of a container etc.
My Swiss Friend who moved from SF to ZH, 5 years ago, only paid $500 to ship all of his belongings from SF to Zuerich. The company even built a crate for him. I am afraid that the company is out of business now.
Thank you!
Rita
Afaik, costs are usually by volume and not by weight. Have you contacted any moving companys yet for a quote?
Hi,
Thank you for the tip. No, I figured I needed to find the guys the moving company would hire to get a good price, so I did not yet. I will contact the company you recommended!
Thank you!
Rita
Hi Rita, did you find a company for this? I am also looking to ship to the states and would like to hear about your experiences.
My husband's company used
http://www.suddath.com/ to move us from the US to Switzerland. They will also handle our return when the time comes. They are fantastic. I just received my shipment today and not a nick or scratch anywhere. We moved from Los Angeles.
Hi there,
I am sorry, but I did not. I ended up storing it in Switzerland w/ my friends.
thanks,
Rita
Hi Rita,
check out www.rmos.com and ask for Darlene Bell. I used the company twice so far. A few years back I sent a Harley to CH by plane and this year I moved my personal belongings to CH. It was very inexpensive as the shipment went from Colorado to California then by vessel to UK and by truck to CH. It was a very long trip, but the price was worth it to wait that long.
Good luck.
Thank you so much for your reply! I appreciate it.
Rita
