on pages with listed holidays in switzerland you can just see today as holiday, but it doesn't say anything about shop.
so how is it?
i cannot really find this information somehow. coop.ch is timing out when i click on offnungenzeiten, migros page doesn't say anything specific about opening durning holiday, ikea also.
At least Manor and post office(s) are working as normal.
You could always check the Feiertagskalender / Holday calendar to find out.. I believe this particular holiday is only valid for Vaud though.. if at all
I didn't know there is a holiday today. My kids go to school in Vaud - they are there now. Next Monday is a holiday though.

and i live and work in zurich and this is zurich only holiday i think
it's called Knabenschiessen and it is school holiday. so what about the shops?
Both Ikeas are not in Zurich City and should be open
Ah, I thought you meant the Bettag... yes, the Knabenschiessen is a Zurich-City only half-day holiday, I'm out at the airport and we work all day..
you are right, i will go to Dietlikon but i also wanted to drop by the Lidl on Ueberlandstr which is in Zurich... otherwise i will hunt for some other open lidl if i knew it is closed

It all depends which canton you live in.....so does shop opening hours. Vaud closes at 17.00 or 17.30 on Saturdays, Fribourg 16.00hrs. Check with your commune.
In Neuchatel Canton it is a bank holiday (le Jeune) on Monday next week, and you are supposed to eat plum tart (and give the money saved by not eating meat, to the poor) - by tradition. Not sure about other Cantons.
Monday-afternoon was a holiday in Zurich. Next Monday is nothing special in Zurich
For my kids (school in Vaud) next Monday is Jeune Federal. In Geneva we had ours on the 9th.
