I'm moving to Lausanne in about two weeks or so.
And I'm sure I'll wander around the neighborhood to get lots of basic stuffs for my living there - electronic appliances(toaster, iron, microwave, vacuum cleaner, etc.), furniture, grocery, fabrics(bed sheets, etc.), and household goods (cleaners, cutlery, etc.)
Can anybody recommend good places (in terms of both reasonable price and variety of goods) for the shopping? I know there is an IKEA shop near Lausanne where I think I can get furniture and related items. Do they deal in electronic appliances too?

For electrical appliances you are best heading out towards Crissier and going to either Mediamarkt or Darty or Conforama

You will also find another furniture shop there called Fly Meubles ( http://www.flymeubles.com/fr_CH/ )
Another Furniture shop you can go to is Interio ( www.interio.ch ) in Morges.

Most of the things you need you can find in different shopping malls in Crissier.
Also there is Fust for electrical appliences. Fust stores are present on several locations in Lausanne area. ( www.fust.ch ).
Also there is interdiscount. www.interdiscount.ch .
If you don't have a car: There is a fust in the Globus and an InterDiscount in the Coop City. (or vice versa)
