Girlfriend and I are planning to move in together in the next 6 months. Her current subscription ends this month. She doesn't want to start another two year contract as I've also recently started one at my current address. When we move in I guess only one of us can migrate to the new address. Trying to avoid her having to pay out her contract when the time comes.
Is anyone aware of a company that provides internet just short term?
I’ve been looking into different options and for Fiber, there is not much available without longer commitment. Only today (well, yesterday), I saw a deal on QoQa for Sunrise with only a 12-month commitment: https://www.qoqa.ch/de/offers/52182
They give a 100CHF cash back (for QoQa purchases), which somewhat reduces the costs to just under 10 months min.
Alternatively, some mobile subscription with a mobile hotspot. DigitalRepublic ( https://digitalrepublic.ch/ ) is very flexible with a month-to-month plan without any commitment. On top, they offer 30-day free trial.
And other providers as well but most have an exclusion for mobile hot spots.
Can she not extend current for 6 months?
It's well worth calling the current provider. Most of these companies have a "retention" department whose job it is to relax rules to keep customers.
I'll have a look into those. Perhaps the Qoqa deal isn't too bad all things considered.
I think she can but the "New customer" discount she had is finished so it's more than double the price going forward. Could be that just paying the normal price is the simplest solution though.

Does she have to renew? Normally when your initial contract is up, it just keeps rolling with a 2 month notice period.
Just call them up and say you want to stay 6 more mo this at same condition and see what they say. In any case for 6 mo this I would pay full price Vs the hassle of changing provider.
