Hello, I hope I put this in the right forum. I havent been on here in a while but being as there seem to be a large number of UK members here, I think someone may be able to help me.
I am in the market for a bunk-bed for my kids room. Being as we are pretty tight on space I would like to get what seems to be called a "shorty" bunk-bed. This is a normal bunk bed, but rather than the standard lenghth of 200cm or so, they range from 160cm onwards. In our small room those few cms would make a world of difference to the room, and my 3 year old shouldnt feel a difference for the next few good years (at least till we are in a bigger place). With a bit of research, these beds seem really commonly available in the UK --they are sold in Tesco, and Argos, and many other furniture stores. However, search as I may, I cannot seem to find a similar product sold at all in Switzerland or in Germany. There is even one bed called Thuka -advertised as 172cm (Ithink), but when I find it on the Swiss or German sites, its advertised as being 200cm in length.
I was wondering if anyone here has any input for me. Maybe you have seen such a bed, have one, or know where to get one? Or is bringing one over from the UK my only option? (it may work out cheaper in any case). Is this called something else here?
Thanks! Thats a bit pricier than I intended, but Im very glad to find it locally.
One more thing is that I seem to recall seeing such a bunk bed in ikea a few months ago, but there is nothing of the sort in their cataloge or on their website. My sister in law mentioned that many of their products are only available in their stores, and its very possible they do have it but not online. Has anyone maybe seen it in Ikea?
However i came up with a cheaper option. I bought two wooden toddler beds in ikea, and will have a carpenter suspend one above the other and add a ladder.
