Or should I just list total amount of money of the brokerage account?
With the listing I get from my (Swiss) bank, I have only to transcribe 3 or 4 figures from it onto my tax form (Wertschriftenverzeichnis) and submit that listing with my tax form. The DA1 form, if relevant, needs a bit more work.
In BL. I'm required list each stock holding (fund etc.) together with any dividends, and buy/sells during the year, with the appropriate documentation.
I could pay 100 francs to have the bank provide me with a full statement, but I'm too mean.
Your brokerage account should supply figures suitable for the tax declaration.
Watch out for dividends where you can claim back the withholding tax...
Are you certain?
In BS at least you can report a single line with total amount at end of the year, dividends received and WHTax on those.
Then just attach the yearly report from the broker.
until end of 2022 BL maintained their own tax values for shares which differ from the federal values...
Yep. They're lower. - IIRC around 50% of the dividend value is taxable. Apparently it's allowed federally, but BL are the only one who do it. It's annoying when you have a share not on their database!
The BL Tax app requires each and every shareholding to be listed, along with purchases and sales during the year and dividends. Since I don't do much trading, there's not much to do.
As I said, I can get a full statement as supporting documentation from my bank, but it costs me 100 francs.
I do a lot of trading and it's a royal PITA!
Next year, I might try just putting in the total figure and attaching the IBKR report.
Does the bank give the proper BL values?
I use Swissquote. They don't give the values - the software figures that out. I used the statement to provide evidence of sales etc. I'm probably providing more paperwork than needed, but they've never complained! :-)
If you had that report, would you still have to enter everything in? Or is the idea that it gives a couple of numbers and the rest is backup?
The Zg online etax form did not accept my Swissquote summary, so I had to enter everything manually.
I always just put the total value and attach a screenshot.
Yes. I would have to enter everything in.
