Siemens kitchen appliances!!!!

Don't stock up too much on dishwasher detergent. It loses potency with age. (Same applies to laundry detergents, too.)

Bit like us humans then

Could you be precise and give the reference number of these appliances?

OK, now I've had enough.

Last night a pool of water appeared on the kitchen floor. On further investigation, I found that the dishwasher was full of water.

I tried resetting the machine, which activates the pump. End result ... water still in machine.

Emptied the machine by hand, checked all filters, removed the trap the sink and the pipe from the machine, but no evidence of food blockages ... everything extremely clean.

Started a new program, which resulted in water coming out of the bottom of the machine.

Now I have to decide, do I try and fix it myself, find a local repair guy (any recommendations for someone in Basel), or to go and buy a new machine.

Does it leak because you think there's a blockage and it's gotten too full?

Does it start to leak while it's filling?

Does it leak when it's full and washing?

Does it leak only when trying to empty but it can't?

I read your post again, remove the panels and see if you can see where it's leaking from. You might have a split pipe somewhere or maybe a pump has gone bad, i.e. the seals have gone or the housing has cracked.

Otherwise a couple of hundred € will get you a new one from the Rheincenter :-)

I also have a water softener.

At best I would estimate we use the machine twice per week.

Also I always check the filters after each use.

Last night I had a quick look again (need the weekend, to pull out the machine and open her up).

I can easily turn the impeller of the pump, so it's not blocked.

I completely dried out the small reservoir/space under the filters, checked everything again and then started the program.

End result was lots of whirring, which did not sound normal.

Opening the machine after a few minutes, there was a small amount of water in the reservoir, but no additional water on the floor.

Buying a new machine ... yes I like that idea. It's just a question of which brand. I purchased a Miele washing machine and separate dryer and I've been extremely happy with them so far however they are still less than 2yrs old.
