Has anyone got one of the newer Siemens or one of the newer Samsung heat pump tumble driers?
Our current machine has a heat pump but the heat exchanger gets very blocked and is nigh-on impossible to clean effectively which makes the machine inefficient and more costly to run.
The Siemens machines have a self-cleaning heat exchanger. Has anyone had one of these for a year or so and has any comments.
The Samsung machine has an exchanger the same basic design as our current Electrolux. Has anyone one of these?
Annoyingly, in MediaMarkt, the filter covers are covered in an energy-efficiency label and the sales guy was unwilling to take these off to let me see the heat exchanger.
Also, any comments on the latest Siemens and Samsung washing machines as this needs replacing too.
I've been dealing with the Samsung ones lately. We had a guerrilla kind of competition going on with a few brands in the latests fairs.
I can't give you a personal take, but all Samsung we installed seem to be pleasing the clients.
I remember being absolutely fascinated with the little door on the washing machine which you can use to put that sock that was left out together with the rest. It happens more than it should with me
We bought a Samsung washing machine a couple of years ago. Our Siemens machine broke and we simply went to Mediamarkt and bought the most suitable for our needs, mainly based on the fact that the Samsung takes a larger load than normal and has a bigger door which gives easier access particularly for towels and bedding. The machine also came with a 10 year guarantee. It is fine and does the job. We also have a Zug machine in our weekend home which I personally prefer simply due to its ease of use, but I would have no reason not to recommend the Samsung.
I also plan to replace our current Tumble Dryer with a Samsung, so would be interested to know if you are pleased with the Samsung dryer if you opt for that.
I was interested in the Samasung ones with the "add wash" function. However, I was put off a little by reports that Samsung washers had some problems in Asia catching fire... I don't have the details, it was a few years ago.
Anyhow I stepped up to Miele for washer and dryer and could not be happier. So solidly built.
We went for the Siemens ones in the end -they're on order. My wife thought the little door on the Samsung washer was cool as well but we wanted a matching pair and before we started looking, she said she definitely did not want a heat exchanger which had to be cleaned in the same way as our old one (impossible to clean) so that ruled out the Samsung.
The Siemens come out well in the UK Which? consumer magazine (as do the Samsung and Miele too).
Interestingly, the U.K. and Germany has much newer models than those available in Switzerland but the newer models are very expensive so we ruled those out as we didn't really need a touch screen display - especially as I'm going to rig ours up with our home automation system (don't tell the wife) so I can just say, 'Wash some towels' and it will automatically select the 'Towel wash' program.
