I live in Basel, but didn't see this type of dog at Basel Tierheim.
Although lots of people sell dogs on the internet, there are seldom Bichon Frise Dog.

Make sure you do your SKN theory course first with a reputable SKN teacher; there are some listed in one of the stickies in the Pet Corner iirc. Also note that there is no approved SKN online course in English so if you’ve seen adverts for them, they not valid and you would have to do the course again. Only the online course run by Wolf Zemp is approved and it’s only available in German.

Also make sure to ask your landlord/agency if it’s okay to have a dog before you buy one.

you probably won't find Bichons at the Tierheim, too cute to stay long there!
A well-bred Bichon is friendly, affectionate, smart, easily trained, and long-lived (13 to 15 years.) An added benefit is they don't shed much dander and they accommodate multiple "owners" without territory or possessiveness issues. However, before you rush out please consider the following aspects where Bichons aren't a great fit:
- you work long hours and the house is empty most of the day (Bichons like people, need companionship or other dogs to thrive)
- you don't like grooming dogs daily (but you can just cut the fur short)
- you want an "outdoorsy" dog
We couldn't easily find a Bichon in CH over 10 years ago, a fellow Bichon owner led us to a small store in Mulhouse FR getting them from a breeder in Normandy. PM me if interested in Name/Address, maybe they still offer them (seems Charles spaniels, French bulldogs, etc more popular now)

PS: be careful not to get a "puppy farm" dog, training can't overcome bad breeding
