Single mum/parent groups in the Nyon area

Does any one know of a single mum/parent group in tne Nyon area. I am recently single with a toddler and have no family support here.

Not sure as my fiance and dont have children, but there is a great site - living in nyon, and the lady who runs it is very helpful and has local knowledge so she may well be able to help!

Hey, aloosh, I know of a few places.

Depends if you want to integrate or not. I have very much enjoyed La Nacelle (local plagroup in French, 3x a week), in rue de St Cergue, then ludotheque, la bibliotheque de jeunesse, in la Combe, the tot drop in center in la Combe, all the playgrounds, etc. There you will find people from all over, and mingle, arrange playgroups, etc.

If your heart longs for expat group, then try International Women club of Nyon, they used to run some Mom and Tots playgroups, I think it was once a week. There is also GEMS, a playgroup once a week organized by WestLake Church, with some bible reading and education/mom talk while the tots play together, also in English.

I have personally really enjoyed going the "rough" way and mingle with locals, despite the language not being perfect, actually non existent, but, you get to know the area so much better, outsource sitting options (cheaper than what expat know of, usually), get to know about local schooling, second hand toy markets, summer camps, get local friends, etc etc.

A WONDERFUL place for english speaking mothers of any background, culture etc meet once a week. Have a great time, meeting lovely people, have a cup of tea and the best part...the children are taken care of!!

Good luck with your search, I think you can speed this up by dropping at La Nacelle tomorrow (see post above), Tue or Thur, reu de St. Cergue 25 I think it is, I have met some of my single parent friends there.

Where I talked about Nacelle, a few posts up.

How is your French? Focusing on expats and single parents might be hard, a lot of the times when people separate they move back home to have more support and help. French is essential. Geneva might be more single parent populated.

Don't despair, I will throw a kite flying event soon, some farm flower or fruit picking or so with kids, just watch for the agenda, though you kiddo is a wee one, still..might enjoy it as well. These moments are also for parents to get out and network. PM me if you want to drop by for coffee sometime in a couple of weeks, I am uber busy, but could give you some pointers as to where to go for some kiddie fun with your little one.
