Ski places in between Basel and Geneva?

We are relatively new to Basel, and have been skiing most weekend at Engelberg / Titlis this year since purchasing season passes in mid-December (and we finally have some snow!)

We have friends living in Geneva and we are trying to find a place that will be a relatively short drive for both families to meet for a day ski trip (i.e. hopefully under 1.5-2 hours.) It doesn't have to be a large mountain, just convenient to get to from both Basel and Geneva. Any suggestions?

Have you considered somewhere in the Fribourg Alps? Les Paccots, La Berra and MoleĢson are not too far from the A12. However, they are relatively small, lower altitude resorts and have suffered with lack of snow, until now that is.

Well, you have a few choices:

- on the Rhone valley - Leysin, Villars, Portes du Soleil. Easy to get to from Geneva but a bit of a drive from Basel. Plus expect heavy traffic on weekends.

- Chateau-d'Oex/Gstadt/Zweisimmen would be in the middle between the two as the crow flies but smaller, lower altitude and more difficult to get to

Otherwise not that much inbetween... expect at least 2h drive from Basel each way on busy ski days
