Ski season employment

Hi,

Does anyone know of employment opportunities for the ski season?

I am interested in doing a ski season (working in my line of work, Accounting & Finance, would be great but happy to do customer service related jobs) but I can only speak english. The only employment opportunities I have come across is through UK based recruitment companies who recruit for the resorts popular with people from the UK. But they all involve an interview process in London.

If anyone is aware of a recruitment company based in Switzerland or has advice on how I should go about finding opportunities please let me know.

Thanks

Why don't you find companies working in the resorts you want to work in and contact them directly?

I think with the London based recruiters you should be able to get telephone interviews and find some jobs that way - I don't think everyone will be based in London and can't see the companies willing to pay everyone to come to them for interviews (or people prepared to travel long distances for interviews for a short term job?)

Thanks Sharon,

In contact with one london recruiter, trying to work out how I can avoid making the trip over there for the interview.

I am very new to the whole ski season thing (I have never been skiing in my life! But I figured doing a ski season would be a great experience) so I am not too sure about the different resorts, good locations etc. Getting as much info from the net that I can. But good point about contacting the resorts directly! Just have to start working out which resorts to contact

Thanks

Try Natives - they seem good

Also - the more flexible you are in what you do and where you go, then the easier it will be for you

Assuming that you have a work permit, it should not be too difficult to find a seasonal job in a ski town. It might be tough to find one in Accounting/Finance but it is worth a shot as well. Just go to a town that appeals to you and start to ask around. Now is the right time to start looking as housing is going to become more and more difficult to find as the season gets underway. Speaking only English is not really a problem for this type of job either. There will be plenty of tourists who don't speak the local languages but will speak English. Your co-workers can handle the local-language speakers. Good luck.

This is good advice. I did a ski season once, though got my job in July as a result of interviews etc (it was resort management). There's quite often jobs available if you are already in resort and make a good impression on the resort management. We had quite a few leave after 2 or 3 weeks of the start of the season and were quite happy to have locals who would fill the gaps.

It's long hours and can be hard work, but the reward was that I boarded every day for 5 months. I was in Austria and speak German (and French), but there were lots of people who could only speak English. If you get a rep's job, then you'll learn human anatomy - I probably had every single bone in the human body broken by one of my clients at some point. In a group of 100, I would accompany a visit to the doctor usually every day. And I wasn't immune to the odd broken bone myself not that it stopped me . Good luck!
