Sledging on Uetliberg ?

I have guests over on saturday, but they have only half day here and would love to go sledging.. is Uetliberg a good option ? any idea if we need to walk all the way up to start the sled run, or is the start point near the last train stop ..

no sled hires there though , any idea where I can get cheapo sleds .. basic plastic ones will also do..

Take the train up, look for kids running with sledges behind them, follow, sledge down on dedicated pistes. No use if it's slushy, though.

Most sports places sell sledges.

Hi, I'm thinking to go sledging at Uetliberg with my 5 years kid. Do you think it would be tough for my kid?

My husband went down the run with our son when he was two and a half. It's fine so long as you have a decent sledge with one of those attached seats and you sit on the sledge with them.

I would recommend some kind of helmet, too, in case of an impromptu and high speed encounter with a tree/fence post/pylon/general roly poly on the way down.

I heard that it is possible to sledging on Uetliberg. Where to start? on the top of the mountain?

Can I rent the sledging there also?

I hope to invite my mother to experience the sledging (she is 60 years old and has no experience of skiing and sledging before). Is it tough for her? Or is there some other possibilities for her to experience some easy sledging?

Thank you very much.

You could try ringing this site to see what the weather conditions are like. I would imagine it is a bit slushy, but maybe its OK. I don't think you can hire sledges there anyway.

There is another Uetliberg Thread which might have more Info about the run.

Some kind Mod has already merged the two Threads!

Just to be clear... can you or can't you rent sledges on uetliberg? If not, is there anywhere in Zurich that you can?

An alternative to Uetliberg would be Pilatus, sledges are free and its a nice long run from Fräkmüntegg down to Kriens. Details are on the website http://www.pilatus.ch/content-n18-sE.html

Hi,

Does anyone know if Uetliberg is still good to sledge down? At least for the first 1km?

I tried calling the helpline (+41 800 588 588) but my German's not good enough to understand the message.

Thanks!

It's closed due to lack of snow.
