Snow'n'Rail ???

Hello!

I have never been in swiss mountains before but I can ride a snowboard a little bit.

Where is a good place, not expensive, for those who start. I live in canton Aargau, near the city Aargau)))

Is it cheaper to buy sbb ticket snow'n'rail or just train ticket and a day pass in the mountains? What is the average cost of a day pass to a ski resort? What is included in it's cost?

I'm confused because I have track 7 and half-fare and my husband only half-fare...

I need your advice

Thanks

The combines ticket is cheaper, but dont know how much, as I have both a GA and a Meilenweiss Season Ticket, but as far as i know, even with a GA, taking the snow and Rail offer should be a bit cheaper than just buying the day ticket at the resort.

You find all the participating resorts here, sorted after region: http://railaway.sbb.ch/snow-n-rail/

If you use Snow n rail to go to Flumserberg, there is an offer of 15% off equipment hire, when you get there.

Last year, you got a small price for free, if you saved up a small amount of Snow and Rail tickets. They may offer something similar this year.

Doc.

Last year Snow'n Rail ticket to Flumserberg was almost the same as the lift pass which means you are basically traveling for free.

There is a chf 5 voucher for snow n rail today in 20 min.

Edit: valid for Flumserberg only

thanks for the tip, i just tore it out of the paper Flumsi here I come

Not sure how much it will cost to get to and from Aargau, but a Ski and Rail pass to Flumserberg should set you back about 70+CHF from Zurich.

On the weekends if you take the S2 train at either 6:38am, 7:38am. or 8:38am (usually platform 53) the train goes direct to the ski lifts.

(Off the top of my head), use the ticket machine to select: Sport and Leisure ticket Snow 'n Rail East Switzerland Flumserberg 1 day half tax Adult ski pass Remeber that the machine will give you TWO tickets. One is the rail pass, the other is for your ski pass*.

*You will have to pay an additional 5CHF for the ski pass when you get there and swap the ticket..... but you get that back when you hand the pass back in.

**hot tip, walk up the stairs, don't line up with the other muppets at the bottom of the rail exit (unless the line is empty).

Also, there are other trains that are quicker than the S2, but you have to swap trains at 'Ziegelbrücke'..... not really a big deal.

Good luck

I assume you mean Aarau ?

If your husband has half-price card, then he should definitely use the snow'n'rail offer. If you have Gleis7 then you'll have to check whether it's cheaper to get a single ticket plus lift pass (and use the gleis7 for free return travel) but I doubt that would be cheaper and you'd have to hang around in the cold until 7pm... almost certainly 2 snow'n'rails would be your best bet.

Having said that, if you're really just a beginner you may want to check out single lift tickets rather than a day pass. Especially smaller resorts offer these and if you only manage to take a few lifts in a day (due to getting tired, falling over etc) then they can be very good value.

Also if you don't have your own equipment then you can sometimes get special deals with equipment rental and a lesson together, which are also very worthwhile.
